I’m not really into trying harder and maybe you don’t want to post 3 times a day to Instagram either.

I want your art to be so attractive that .. well .. best case you paint something and your fans are clamouring for it. You have sellout shows. But .. let’s take this one step at a time.

I know you follow where the fancy takes you, always exploring new things. So we need something about you that’s underneath “oh, you’re the artist that paints red yachts”. I’m not going to tie you down. I want you to keep full artistic freedom while also building a supportive fanbase who will still be there whatever form your art takes.

What connects people is values. I know that’s a vague word, but stick with me. If I enjoy playfulness and you enjoy getting things accurate and ‘right’, we’re not going to want to spend a lot of time together. But if we both want playfulness what that actually means is we both want a more playful world, and we’ll both do playful things and we’ll have a shared language and purpose.

Think of it like we are walking together into a future we both want and are building.

They will want your art because it says something about them and because they want to support you because you’re connected.

They’ll discover you over playfulness. You’ll be in a forum or at an event or be a friend of a friend.

How we get there, that’s Magnetic Artist.

For this to work really well for you, we need to get clear what you’re about. What is the value you’re going to stand for in your artistic practice.

Don’t worry, it’s not effortful, it’s permission to be you. You’re already living it, I’m saying .. live it more. Be clearer.

I have an exercise. I built it myself because there was nothing like it. It’s online (I happen to have a first class degree in Internet Computing).

So this short course is about doing the exercise where you are shown some different values and you choose the one that seems most right for you. Repeat, takes about 10/15 minutes.

Then you get to put them in some sort of order. Then you get to choose which one you’re going for.

The whole thing is a wow moment. But what I expect you’ll feel at the end is like a weight’s lifted. You should have clarity not only of the obvious what are you about, what are you for? But also it makes decisions easier and you can see your path forward more easily.

And that’s enough for now. But when you’re ready there are another three steps, in the next one we get on Zoom and choose a buyer who shares your chosen value, then we work out a habit for how to reach them. That gets you a long way .. you’re connecting with likely supporters in a whole new way every day. Then the final step is I’ll write you a hook. So whereas at step three you are attracting your people, at step four we turn that up with a hook that will entice your people to check you out.

This is self-paced, online, get yourself some clarity, covered by my guarantee and yes it’s the first foundational step but it’s also terribly exciting, feels great and is useful so let’s go ..

  1. Completed grouping words. Feel they fall into four categories…1. Me 2. perception of me 3. artwork 4. Business and my aspirations for it.

    1. Aah, whoops, I might have skipped ahead. If it’s not too late, read this after you’ve done the next step. Gotta say the way you’ve grouped them has thrown me. I’m definitely not saying you did it wrong (whoa! definitely not saying that) .. it’s harder for me to latch on to .. so what I’m going to say next will seem to be like I ignored that and just said what I wanted to. That’s not it. I’ve looked at your website, your social media, and your values and what’s come to me is ‘the democratisation of beauty’. The point being .. you find beauty in the everyday and you’re not trying to represent what you see so that someone else can give you a gold star, you’re representing your experience and only you can pass judgment on that (if judgment is even necessary).
