Description
We gather once a month on Zoom like a book club, to discuss a particular thing, for example, we will start with Cy Twombly’s work. Initially we’ll talk about his early work, his scribble and markmaking language. Then the month after look at him bringing in poetry and writing to his work. Then after that look at the bigger, later work, the colours and gestures. Then we’ll decide together who to study next.
Besides the inspiration, the learning, and the community, part of the point is to create shareable video for everyone’s social media (the subscription price covers my editing and admin time and the cost of the tools). I propose providing the whole session to everyone so you can edit yourself if you wish (that also means that ultimately this discussion should be regarded as public). But specifically I will provide each participant with edited video(s) of their contribution. Of course, that means you will need to contribute to the discussion in order to get those benefits.
I may publish and publicise the whole thing, for instance, on YouTube, and link to your socials.
Because it’s ‘book club style’, it’s down to you to research the topic we will discuss next time. I suggest also that you consider how you might relate the discussion to your own work. Have examples of your work readily available so you can quickly share your screen if that’s appropriate to the discussion.
The price is a monthly subscription and membership is presently limited to 5 people. You can drop out at any time but if it turns out to be popular and you want to come back in, there may be a waiting list. The meeting time is the first Wednesday of each month at 2pm UK time for an hour.
Because the video will be something for sharing, you may wish to take the opportunity to check your mic & lighting.
