Hi, I’m John Allsopp, I’ve been a marketer since the early eighties and nowadays I’m dedicated to helping independent visual artists like you realise your potential on your own terms.

I’ve developed and run courses, marketed art festivals, coached artists .. all the things .. but now I’m focussed on We ArtStep. It’s a small, but multinational online community of artists, and we do two things. Each month we decide together on the marketing problem we’d like to solve (for instance, improving social media or building our mailing list) and then we go through a four week process that goes like this. We gather what we know. We each dream about what’s possible. We make our unique plan. Then we do it. (It’s Appreciative Inquiry if you want to look that up sometime.) And I have to tell you, it’s the most beautiful thing.

If you’re thinking that’s effortful, you’re right. But it doesn’t take over anything, it’s pleasurable, exciting, you’re gently pushed by momentum and helped to get things done you may have been avoiding. That’s it’s power. The steady tortoise wins the race.

So, how does We ArtStep work?

We use Skool, because it’s simple and popular, but also it’s gamified to encourage positive contributions.

Each week I set the task, delivered by recorded video. It’s usually a little bit thrilling and exploratory.

We also meet on Zoom almost daily. The schedule is: we have a coffee hour on a Tuesday and Thursday at 2pm UK time and one on Wednesday at 11am UK time (to better suit Australians) which is just .. up to you, turn up if you want, chat, ask questions whatever. I’m always there of course. Then on a Friday at 3pm UK time we meet for an hour a little more formally to discuss the week’s task, any problems / share wins.

Besides meeting on Zoom, we also post comments, ask questions, give and receive support and celebrate our wins in comments under the week’s task.

There’s no pressure from anyone to participate with any month’s topic or to contribute, you can enjoy it by watching and learning. And if life takes you off somewhere else, the tasks and comments are still available when you get back.

You can join anytime, too. I would say if you join towards the end of a month then introduce yourself and just absorb and explore, vote on the next topic and then set-to when the new month starts. If you join earlier in the month you can do the same or catch up with the month, it’s up to you. I would only caution that at some point (I wrote it down somewhere, I’ll have to check) I’ll put up the price for new members, so you might wish to make a saving and join at this introductory price. Anyway, the earlier you start on your marketing journey the sooner you’ll see returns, and it’s like compound interest .. if you leave it, you’ll only wish you started earlier.

What can I expect?

Well the first thing is, you’re risking nothing. My 30 day no-quibble money back guarantee applies (see footer) so you can try it safely. If you choose monthly payments, you can leave and come back as you wish.

You can expect to be gently and lovingly motivated to get your sh*t together, to put your art out there to do its job; beautifying, inspiring, calming, challenging &  teaching. The world needs that, right?

You’ll make supportive new friends. Controllable ones. You can pop in, feel good, get inspired, get your questions answered, & then walk away.

If you’re a leap-into the pool kinda person, you can just start today, sign up, introduce yourself, watch the (usually 10 minute) task video for this week and take the first step to your independent & successful artist future.

Can I tell you what excites me the most about this? I’m not a top down person, I love it when people work together. So yes I’ve a lifetime of marketing knowledge to bring, but it’s all the experiences people bring, like collage, we take a snatch of this and a snippet of that and each of us makes our own marketing picture. I rebel when a course says “Do this exactly as I say”. Shan’t! In We ArtStep, we’re here to help you market and sell your art your way. Play to your strengths.

OK, how do I join?

Click the button and you’ll end up at Skool (where We ArtStep lives). Pay them and you’ll be in the group straight away. There’s a Discussion tab, check what’s pinned to the top. The Zoom meetups are in the Calendar tab. The Classroom contains all the lessons. Simple as.

Here’s the button, you know what to do:

Just to re-iterate, there’s a no-quibble 30 day money back guarantee, so the only risk is if you don’t press the button and just carry on. There’s a reason you’re here.

If you’re still on the fence, see that ‘get started’ button at the top of the page, click that, book a Zoom with me and we’ll talk it through. I’m not a high pressure sales person, I genuinely want what’s right for you. There’s no harm talking it through.

I was going to write something quirky here but I just got what me & my partner call a love burble, that thrill bubble in your belly .. I got it when I thought of writing something cheesy like “*ring ring* hang on, that’s the phone. Hello? What’s that? You’re phoning on behalf of everyone in We ArtStep to say you’re all looking forward to meeting this new person. Aww thanks, that’s so sweet, I’ll pass it on.” The thing is, I know the embrace you’ll get and that cheesy thing is true.

So join.

You never know it might work.

Imagine that!
