Your ‘wow’ness is guaranteed.

(In case you need the text:

If you’re not sure how to market and sell your art, if you don’t know what to post or what to say, this really is for you.

There’s an awful lot of ‘stuff’ about. Social media is overwhelming, it feels like the end of something.

It’s like the world needs to reclaim its humanity, and that’s where artists have a headstart. People turn to art for meaning, for a touchstone, for solid ground.

In among all this noise, there’s a way you can be more compelling. Not by doing anything false, but by realising what you’ve been standing for all along. What really matters to you at the end of the day.

And here’s the important part: turn that up.

The clearer you are about what matters to you, the more you’ll attract people who will love what you do.

My goal is for artists to stand up for soul-filling human things like community, seeing beauty in the ordinary, being awed by nature, being skilled, supporting variety, adding interest and beauty and depth.

And you’ll probably sell more of your art when you stand up and are clear.

This is actually branding. We want to present to the world real you. Excited you. Motivated and engaged you. It’s truly you, but it’s not everything, you need downtime. We don’t have to show the you doing the shopping.

So what is motivating to you? Discovering that is what this is all about.

Some values oppose other values. You may respect skill and experience while also being inspired by trying something new. You may like the idea of an artist in the studio but be moved by a great interview. You may love community engagement but feel like you have your own great ideas about bigger public art.

Here’s the fix for that values soup. If we can identify one key value that you live for above all else. The one that’s most exciting for you. The value that opens up new possibilities and shows you where you’re wasting effort on distractions. It gives you direction and velocity. It helps you make decisions. It shows you where you’re going.

Once you are clear on your key value, it changes everything you do. For instance, if you decide ‘playfulness’ is your key value, then all your communications, all your choices about social media and emails, your website and so on are all inspired by playfulness.

If you talk about the importance of play then guess what? You’ll attract all sorts of people who agree with you.

They will support you for life because you both want a more playful world.

You actually become a leader to those people because as an artist you are unbounded. You can go where you like, do what you like and so long as it’s in pursuit of, for instance, playfulness they’re up for it.

Imagine, you’ve got say a thousand fans who support what you do in your mailing list. People talk about a good mailing list like it’s a cash machine.

We’re creating brand-you, but we’re not being incongruous, we’re building it around your greatest asset, you and what makes you different. That’s going to be even more powerful as AI mushes everything up and removes the soul.
